Lights, camera, excess!

Ten huge vans and equipment trucks for an REI video crew, plus the usual summer camps.

Gotta have tents for the caterers, plus a FOG MACHINE.

The didn't tell the PATC trail crew. They couldn't do much with chain saws but cleared the worst blowdown.

Not this way boys and girls. When are they going to install handrails?

Is that the AMGA officially approved 6 inches?

Doesn't matter because that's a single bowline, which always needs a tie off knot.

Their other anchor looks like a bowline connected to a figure 8 with a carabiner.

There are threads on bigger rocks nearby. This is also levering the small end upwards.

Give the tree roots a break, the tree needs them.

Not quite long enough, leaving the carabiners to jam into each other.

When it comes to rocks use the big one.

The one in the back is twice the size. I guess they figured the roots were helping.

One anchor is blue rope to the tiny cedar at left. The yellow rope goes to the tiny tree at right.

Warping young minds.

They explained why the other anchors are low, right? The rappel anchor is high because they didn't bring enough diapers.

Dont leave your stuff at the top of the crag.

The haul bag alone retails for $135. Who knows what goodies are inside? Nobody in sight, it could be gone in a heartbeat.

At least they didn't use the boat rope.

Loose single bowline, no stopper knot, on a tiny tree.

Bag o' boat rope.

Another loose bowline.

The right lobe of the cam is barely making contract. The carabiner gate is facing the rock to be forced open.
Another gate facing the rock.

The gym guy did it, but not like this.

It's a rappel anchor. It's not a "high redirect", which is bull anyway, all of the stress is on the tree, up high maximizing leverage. These guys were jumping down the cliff, shock loading the tree.

At least the other anchor is bomber. This is 9MM canyoneering rope, not static.
