Mr. Mystery Knot returns, with some improvement.

Ok, its a bowline, if he thought it was a tensionless anchor, it isn't. At least  it is at the bottom of the tree.

Still running the climbing rope over edges.

The anchor ropes run over some real sharp edges.

Sunday Follies

They had plenty of webbing to tie an anchor long enough...

But you've got to use all your shiny new gear.

Is halfway up the tree high enough?

Run the single strand of webbing over a few edges.

All the rope in the world but...

but a bit short.

He said, "I can't feel your weight."

Can't be Sunday without the dead tree.

The "instructor" is a little challenged on his bowlines.

He had a school group, then two boys after school

Points for using the webbing in a loop. but not for side loaded carabiner, wide anchors, and climbing rope running over edges.

So near, and yet so far.

New rope, perfect double bowline, no tie off knot. Yes, I tied it off.
Same thing, then he added...

a cam which is holding most of the climber's weight on the strand going back to the tree, but the cam is doing all the work.

NFL cuts gumby factor, but...

Sart by slinging the tree at left, add a flying clip to the rock and...

add another tree 15 ft away

They can't resist the dead tree, even if just as a directional.
