Too much thinking is totally a thing.
When more is too much. The friction knots in the blue webbing (probably Hedden knots) use weaker knots and materials than the anchor ropes. The blue runner at the center is actually holding all the weight.
A friction knot on a carabiner is actually weakening the ropes.
Weird triple redundancy. This group has been around for a few years, you can find them on Facebook. The original leadership moved on, they now get wrapped around their own axel.
I'm not familiar with the second setup - is the webbing + carabiner just a redirect for the (presumably) two anchor ropes?
