They can't go to the gym

Christmas is the only day they close the gym, so the pad posse shows up at Carderock. I'm sure none of the staff show up on 4/20.

  2. Remove my comment.. That's real honest.
Just the fact that you ran from the comment shows who you really are..
Stop hating climbers just because they don't think like you.
You don't own climbing and you don't own Carderock..

    1. Yes, bringing up the murder that I witnessed, on the fourth anniversary, and suggesting that was about climbing, will get a response.

  4. You seem to have an axe to grind Brian, if the website isn’t for you then simply don’t visit. For us who like grumpy and opinionated blogs by climbers who aren’t afraid of speaking their mind this is perfect!
Start your own and you too can remove responses and feck around as you see fit.

  5. I have been following this blog for some time. One of the things I have learned is that there is a great deal of sloppy rigging at Carderock. From the pictures, it is obvious that many people do not know the fundamentals of anchor building, much less anything approaching AMGA standards. John maintains that local climbing gyms are not preparing people for climbing on the rock, while pretending they are preparing people. I am not terribly surprised, as it is the same in many places. Sloppy instructors create sloppy climbers, which, eventually, leads to serious injuries and deaths. Why should John and myself care? Other than being human, the inevitable tragedies will lead to lawsuits (gyms will be held responsible for unqualified instructors....in cases of "negligence," it will not matter what you signed), and the Park Service will take notice. A series of injuries or deaths and the Park Service may decide climbers are not worth the headaches and close the crag. It happens. There are plenty of AMGA certified guides around; do us all a favor and find one.
