Agreed. The other looks like a PMI static with bowline on a bite, backed up with barrel knot? As one leg of the anchor? If correct, is that recommended? A lot of top roping in Alabama: for tree anchors, I always use a bowline with barrel, for both ends on a tree (s), and a bowline on a bite as my master point. I also use a PMI static.
They are actually double (French) bowlines, and that is the best practice. You could use a figure 8 for the master point. The BFK serves no useful purpose since no properly tied figure 8 has ever failed.
