Buy a little more rope.

8MM cord, single carabiner.

Same thing, note the clove hitch with half a double fisherman's as a backup. If you know the clove hitch isn't stable, don't use it.

Both knots are grinding on rock edges.

Macrame?

If it's Sunday, it's WTF?

Need gear? This "professional" left a haul bag full with no-one in sight.

Same "professional" tied this.

We know instructors are exempt from the laws of physics.

No, this is not a real anchor.

They didn't sell him a clue.

A 7MM cordalette around "The Refrigerator" a detached block that has lost substantial rock from the base from spalling. Maybe it is moving. He has no other anchor, but that's OK since this thing will crush him like a bug anyway.

Three cams levering up a detached block, quick draws, a cordalette and a final quickdraw. So the final point is one non-locking carabiner. Check the BD website to see if they sell clues.

The guy in the video part II.

The clove hitch, carabiner, and runner are unnecessary. Look at the pile of unused rope. Note the bowline at the far left, to do what?

"The guy did this in the video."

The tree is too skinny, the added carabiner and runner are unnecessary, you can see all the extra rope. The clove hitch is a bad choice, it isn't as stable as other knots.

The setup is for a rappel but notice the two carabiners are neither reversed nor opposed.

The sleeve is protecting the rope from air.

Adding that last thing can have unintended consequences

.
The single strand webbing is a bad idea, but things get worse with the carabiners.

The yellow webbing was an afterthought, but it has created real problems. The upper carabiner is side loaded and could be nose clipped if it isn't REALLY locked. The only good news is that it isn't likely to have to hold weight.

How deserted is Carderock on Labor Day weekend?

This guy was stretched across the main trail. A northern water snake, I think he is after the current bumper crop of toads

Rigging high on these trees means the climber will hit the deck from 10 feet.
