The tree is too skinny, the added carabiner and runner are unnecessary, you can see all the extra rope. The clove hitch is a bad choice, it isn't as stable as other knots. |
The setup is for a rappel but notice the two carabiners are neither reversed nor opposed. |
The sleeve is protecting the rope from air. |
Should have seen some of the other craziness going on today...some guys with a anchor made out of dental floss on tiny trees so that every fall resulted in a 10ft drop...a big troop of yahoos who seemed to think belayers only need to pay attention once the climber is half way to the anchor, resulting in 2 sliding ground falls before I'd had enough and decided to relocate...another "anchor" that consisted of a single bit of tatty webbing wrapped around a tree...Carderock has become an absolute zoo.
