The tree is too skinny, the added carabiner and runner are unnecessary, you can see all the extra rope. The clove hitch is a bad choice, it isn't as stable as other knots.

The setup is for a rappel but notice the two carabiners are neither reversed nor opposed.

The sleeve is protecting the rope from air.

Should have seen some of the other craziness going on today...some guys with a anchor made out of dental floss on tiny trees so that every fall resulted in a 10ft drop...a big troop of yahoos who seemed to think belayers only need to pay attention once the climber is half way to the anchor, resulting in 2 sliding ground falls before I'd had enough and decided to relocate...another "anchor" that consisted of a single bit of tatty webbing wrapped around a tree...Carderock has become an absolute zoo.
