Anybody know a knot, any knot?

Lots of rope to replace the carabiner and runner.

Same thing

Lots of knots, what are they doing?

The price tag is still on it.

This is solid webbing, not tubular. It is faded to white and frayed.

They don't make runners any thinner.

Again enough stuff to eliminate the carabiner and red webbing.

Yes all of these had single carabiners.

Fun with webbing

2 slings around the rock but only 1 to the climbing rope.

The right side of the red sling slipped just after I took the picture.

Let's overthink this.

52 degrees brings them out.

Two unnecessary links in the belay chain. Personally, I use the 3' diameter oak  right behind the (probably alive) root.

New gear, no clue.

A tensionless anchor? Not really. A bight of the rope goes around the tree, followed by a failed half hitch.

May qualify as a miracle.

That's a piece of firehose padding the edge. The block is probably big enough, but it isn't bedrock.

Santa brought new gear.

New 100' of static. You wouldn't want that nice new rope near the rock, right?

Shiny new gear. They're from Colorado, don't know if they heard the rock doesn't hold gear.

Not enough rope, or sense?

Two 7mm cords (one is around the block in the center), why not just buy enough rope?

Warm weather, dumb anchors.

Tying everything together is better, right? Nylon on nylon, high anchor on the tree, lots going on.

He said "I could just put a clove hitch on this knob."

Lots of knots, but the tree is still only 3" in diameter.

Ignore the black rope. The 3 anchors probably took everything he had in his pack. The runners in the center are looped over a loose block.
